Trip to Japan - Reiwaryu Ryushinkan 19th Tai Kai

This year I was fortunate and honoured to be invited to participate at the 19th annual Reiwaryu Ryushinkan Tai Kai - Chiba December 2016 by master Soke Ueno.

Over 1700 competitors gathered to compete, with an outstanding number of committed Dan grades to support the event.

Every time I return to Japan, I am overwhelmed by the kindness and Kokoro (heart) demonstrated by the teachers and students, and this trip in particular was especially important as I was able to bring my family with me. KarateDo is a personal pursuit, however without the support of our family and friends the journey would be a great deal harder.

My duties on this occasion included demonstrating Bassai No Kata as well as leading as head judge for the senior High School Boys kumite, and sub referring for the seeded black belts and the championship finals, spanning 4 categories. As always such tasks require full focus and commitment, especially with such high standards being set by the students.

Ryushinkan Karate in England is well established, and it is our mission to see that our students continue to benefit from the fundamental lessons of KarateDo, and develop positive healthy mindsets. One of the shinning qualities of our Karate organisation is that we focus on developing our junior members to become the teachers of tomorrow. Establishing confidence, patience, strength and understanding.
