Karate practice is for everyone regardless of age, ability and fitness.
Some of the well known and documented benefits of practicing Karate include: self defence skills, fitness, increased manoeuverability, agility, stamina, fitness and mental well being. Karate is also a great way to find enjoyment, meet new friends and learn a life-long art form.
The progression of Karate-Do is measured over time, each student will progress at different rates. Gradings are not tested on physical ability alone; instead we look at the Karateka (student) as a whole, taking into account, dedication, effort and spirit. This highlights our core philosophy of personal growth, and opens the way of Karate-Do to all at any stage of their life.
A typical Class will include, Hojo undo (Strength and conditioning training), meditation, core stability and posture enhancing calisthenics, developmental stretching, Kata (Pre arranged and memorized classical forms) Kihon (Basic Techniques) Kumite (free work) and Pair work sets.
